A VILLAGE nursery has been saved by the local community.
Against all odds Compton and Shawford Preschool will open for this academic year.
During lockdown, committee members were forced to launch an emergency appeal. Almost all of its fundraising events had to be cancelled due to the health crisis.
But committee chairman Nicola Webster is now thanking everyone for their support.
She told the Chronicle: "All is going well, we’ve secured enough funds to ensure we can open for the next academic year.
"The support from the local community has been fantastic. Any additional things you may be able to help with over the coming months would be greatly appreciated – very grateful for your support this summer."
Ms Webster is now looking to the future.
She added: "Our reserves remain low though so the fundraising will continue so that we can guarantee opening for many future years."
