WE asked you where you think speed cameras should be placed in the Winchester.
There have been numerous occasions this year where drivers have decided to ignore speed limits.
So we decided to ask Chronicle readers for their opinions on the roads they would like to see speed cameras introduced on.
Some residents didn’t like the idea of more speed cameras in Winchester but many others welcomed the thought.
Below are roads that were mentioned by residents on our Facebook post:
High Street
Donald Dunn was unhappy with the speed on the High Street he said: “At the traffic lights by O'Neill's going up the hill to the castle. I'm sure people think that there at Goodwood festival of speed doing the hill climb. How fast can a get up that hill before they reach the cop shop. One day somebody going to be killed up the hill.”
Badger Farm
Matthew Peters wrote: “Sometimes on Badger Farm, you see the occasional 50 mph-er. I don't like it very much and would like something to dissuade it.”
Cromwell Road
Concerned resident Wakeley Chalke said: “Cromwell Road for the older people to have time to cross the road safely!! It is used as a rat run to miss the calming measures in Stanmore lane.”
Romsey Road
Jenny Ashton commented: “Coming down Romsey road into town.. and there should be a pedestrian crossing too by the bridge opposite Clifton terrace.. which would also slow people down...”
Chilbolton Avenue
Shirley Chapman thinks the speed limit here is already too high: “ 40mph limit is way too high and is often exceeded with idiots overtaking.”
Colden Common
Facebook used Teresa Bulpett commented: “Main Road through both Colden Common and Twyford, its not only the speed but the size of the trucks/lorries that are speeding. Only a matter of time before someone gets hurt. Saw lorry driver yesterday speeding through CC reading a book!!!”
Springvale Road
Christine Archer claims: “Vehicles are regularly driven at speeds in excess of the speed limit. 50-60mph on Springdale road is not uncommon. Speed limit is 30.”
Other roads that were mentioned by readers include:
Worthy Road
Cromwell Road
Stanmore Lane
Chilbolton Avenue
Springvale Road
Andover Road
