AN AUCTION which usually attracts leading sports figures as well as iconic cars and bikes has been held virtually to make sure charities don’t miss out.

The Celebration of Speed black tie event takes its silent auction online to raise money for two worthy charities, Naomi House & Jacksplace and Mesothelioma UK.

This event is in recognition of the Goodwood Festival of Speed, which is a highlight of the sporting calendar, and the Turnbull Group, who organise the event, wanted to make sure that the charities didn’t miss out on a donation amidst the coronavirus pandemic, so decided to move the auction online.

One auction lot is a very rare signed poster from the 1974 Brands Hatch 1000km race. This poster has over 75 signatures including the podium finishers and Peter Gethin, Mike Beuttler, Richard Bond, Bob Evans, Arturo Merzario, Richard Lloyd, John Lepp, Gjis Van Lennep, Reine Wisell, Herbert Muller, Brian Redman, Bob Woller and many more.

Bidders could also get their hands on a Sadio Mané Signed Liverpool FC shirt, a Tyson Fury signed boxing glove and an exclusive VIP experience at the Monaco Grand Prix 2021. Suzie Simmons, Head of Fundraising at Naomi House & Jacksplace said:

A spokesperson for Naomi House & Jacksplace said: “We want to thank the Turnbull Group for continuing to support Naomi House & Jacksplace even after the black tie event was unfortunately cancelled. Those who are interested in the F1 should definitely check out the online auction to see if there is anything they’d be interested in bidding on to support their local children’s hospice.”
