SIR: If “the safety of residents is of the utmost importance to the Cathedral”, they will not plan to invite thousands to a Christmas Market, during a pandemic.
It is like bringing the worst of the hordes, from Bournemouth Beach on a hot day, into the heart of the city, at a time when there is increased risk from seasonal flu in any case.
If “the people” really “are the treasure of the Church”, (the Dean speaking of St Lawrence of August 10), then please, please cancel the market for this year and help to keep people safe.
