SIR: I have lived in the centre of Winchester for the last 13 years and my garden has been full of little birds. Sparrows, Blue tits, Long- tailed tits, Great tits, Wrens, Robins, Blackbirds, and some Thrushes, all of which I have enjoyed watching and feeding.
The only birds left were a pair of Collared Doves which disappeared from my garden about three weeks ago.
Some people welcomed the pair of Peregrine Falcons to Winchester, and were delighted that they successfully reared five hungry fledglings, but personally I would sooner have all those garden birds back!
