SIR: As an ice skater and one of the founder members of the Winchester Ice Sports Association (our Patron is Robin Cousins) I am very disappointed to hear that the Winchester Christmas Ice Rink will not be happening this year (Chronicle, August 6). Myself and thousands of others have spent many hours over the years enjoying skating in the open air and I sincerely hope it will be back for Christmas 2021.
However, skaters and local residents may be interested to know that there is a leisure developer very interested in bringing a permanent ice rink to Winchester, if a suitable site can be found. So fingers crossed we can look forward to a Christmas rink in 2021, with a permanent ice rink following on in the not too distant future.
