ROPLEY teenager Hayden Gray is heading to Cornwall.

Not by car; he is cycling the 230 miles to raise money for charity after a friend suffered brain injuries in a road crash in May.

Hayden, 16, is raising money for Headway, the brain injury charity as his friend Baz, 16, begins his own long journey to recovery.

The cycle ride will be on September 12-13.

Hayden has raised £4,596 to date and has a target of £5,500. He designed, sourced and funded all the parts then built the road bike he will be riding; over £3,000 was raised within 48 hours after he posted the GoFundMe link Instagram.

He said: “The ride will be a challenge but worth it to help raise money for Baz's recovery.”

His mum Fiona said: “Hayden is putting in many miles of training to get ready and we will be supporting him all the way on 12/13 September. Team Baz so far is Dad as mechanical support, I’m in charge of nutrition and his brother is the sports photographer! The response has been amazing so far and we are keen to do as much as we can to help Baz and his family by supporting Headway charity.”
