SIR: I was interested to read about the £1.6 million purchase and "progress being made" including an additional spend of £230,000 in relation to the new Park and Ride at Bar End.
Maybe the city council could now purchase some land north of Winchester, ideally near the Three Maids Roundabout, for a much needed Park and Ride on the other side of the city. With normal conditions returning, the expansion of Kings Barton and the irrational deviation of Andover Road into the housing development, the congestion, with its health and environmental consequences will be significant.
Why is the clear need for such a new Park and Ride from the north being given such low priority when the opposite should deservedly be the case.
