A TEACHER in Southampton has scooped a national award for her "excellence" in special educational needs.
Molly Booth, who works at Oasis Academy Mayfield, picked up the prestigious award at the Pearson National Teaching Awards - which has also been dubbed the "Oscars of Education" - an annual celebration of exceptional teachers.
After entering into the line of work due to personal reasons, Molly as said that the recognition of the award is "even more important" to her.
She said: "It was a complete surprise to me and it hasn’t really sunk in yet. I absolutely love working to support students with SEND and people that know me well will know that I came into this line of work for personal reasons which makes this recognition even more important.
“I am extremely thankful for the support of everyone at Oasis Mayfield, colleagues who took their own time to nominate me and most importantly to the young people and their families which I have been fortunate enough to work with.”
Claire Taylor, Principal at Oasis Academy Mayfield, was "so very proud" to present Molly with the award as she is such a key part of the school's team.
She said: "I was so very proud to present Molly with this award. Molly embodies the Oasis Ethos in her selfless and humble approach to ensuring Excellence in Special Needs Education for our students and their families, she is a fantastic colleague and a key part of Team Mayfield.”
