SIR: I would like to thank Liz Gardener for her letter in the Chronicle on June 25 regarding the closure of Hyde Street and North Walls, and for pointing out that the narrowing of North Walls makes it very difficult for the emergency services to get past the lorries, busses and cars travelling eastwards along a single lane.
I would also like to mention that the pavement on the north side of North Walls is extremely narrow which causes the traffic to travel very close to pedestrians.
