A MAN has been stabbed following a huge fight in a Hampshire street. 

Officers were called to Forton Road in Gosport after a group of people were reported fighting. 

A 41-year-old man was found with a stab wound to his arm. 
He was taken to hospital. His injuries have been described as serious but not life-threatening.

An investigation is underway. No arrests have been made at this stage.

Officers investigating the assault are appealing for witnesses and have assured residents that this was an "isolated incident" with no wider threat to the community. 

In a statement on Twitter, a Gosport Police spokesperson said: "Shortly after midnight this morning (July 11), there was a serious assault in the Forton Road area of Gosport. 

"We would like to take the opportunity to reassure our communities and stress that we believe this to be an isolated incident, with no wider threat to anyone else."

Today, officers have been providing a "high-visibility" presence in the area throughout the day.
