A MAN has died after a serious assault on an industrial estate.

Police were called to an altercation involving two men at Screwfix on Gateway 49 Trade Park in Bewsey on the morning of last Thursday, July 2.

Warrington Guardian:

Fifty-one-year-old Andrew Webster, from Warrington, was rushed to Aintree Hospital after the incident and had been in a critical condition.

But Cheshire Police have confirmed this evening, Wednesday, that Mr Webster has since died.

The Warrington Guardian understands that he had previously been in a coma following the incident on Kerfoot Street last week.

A 24-year-old was arrested on suspicion of assault, but he was later released pending further enquiries by detectives.

An air ambulance attended the incident, with the store being cordoned off into the afternoon and a forensics tent set up at the scene.

A force spokesman said: “Shortly after 10am on Thursday, July 2, police were called to reports of an altercation between two men on Gateway 49 Trade Park.

“Officers attended the scene and found a 51-year-old man with serious injuries.

“Andrew Webster, from Warrington, was taken to hospital but sadly died.

“His family are being supported by specialist officers.

“As part of enquiries into the circumstances, a 24-year-old man was arrested and has since been released on bail pending further enquiries.”
