THE grieving mother of a woman who was murdered in her home by her estranged husband says her family has been torn apart, one year on from her daughter’s death.

Thirty-year-old Lucy-Anne Rushton was forced to swallow her wedding ring before she was violently killed by “jealous and controlling” Shaun Dyson, at her house in Suffolk Road on Sunday, June 23, 2019.

Dyson, of Anna Valley, originally pleaded guilty to manslaughter but later admitted murdering the mother-of-five at the end of a trial in December. He was sentenced to a minimum of 17 years in prison, with the judge condemning him for the “violent and brutal” attack on his former partner.

Now for the first time, Lucy’s mother Myra Simpson has spoken out about the heartache caused by the loss of her daughter and the trauma of having their lives turned upside down.
