A LATE night police chase ended in a car smashing into a barrier in Hampshire.

After the driver of a BMW failed to stop for Surrey police officers a high-speed chase began on the M3.

Officers followed the vehicle until it left the motorway at Junction 9, where its wheels were stung by a Hampshire Police team, forcing the driver to lose control and collide with a barrier.

Two men were arrested at the scene on suspicion of aggravated theft of a motor vehicle, dangerous driving, drug driving and failing to stop for police following the incident in the early hours of June 21.

A Surrey Police spokesperson said: "In the hours of this morning, this BMW failed to stop for us on the M3 in Chertsey.

"We ventured over to Hampshire and when the vehicle left at junction 9, it was stung by Hampshire Road Policing. The driver lost control and collided into the barrier."
