A FUNDRAISER has been set up to help pay for the treatment of a Cockapoo puppy which spent four days with specialist Winchester vets after being attacked by another dog.

Molly was treated in the city after being injured when a Staffordshire Bull Terrier reportedly locked its jaw on the six-month old Cockapoo while it was being walked by owners Debbie Black, 60, and Lauren Canfield, 29, in Poole, Dorset.

Lauren said: “They were running along and all of a sudden it turned and grabbed Molly by her bottom jaw.

“My mum (Debbie) grabbed Molly ran home and took her straight to the vet.

“The screams were so bad, she was in so much pain.”

Molly had to go to a specialist vets in Winchester where she spent four days.

“She has got to wear a tight muzzle, it is just horrendous,” Lauren continued

“Hopefully it will only be for four weeks but that is minimum. There is a 90 per cent chance it will cause her issues in the future.

“It was devastating. She had an allergic reaction to the anaesthetic on the day we were meant to pick her up.

“We sat outside the vet in Winchester for two hours and she couldn’t come home so we had to drive away without our puppy.”

Molly now needs to have all her food and medication through a tube in her neck.

Lauren said they do have pet insurance, however have exceeded their limit of £1,000, and estimated the bill for Molly’s current treatment could reach £6,000.

As a result, they have set up a GoFundMe page to contribute toward the costs.

Lauren added: “The bill is up to £4,500. Her food is £22 a tin.

“She is on six types of medication and she will have to go for a CT scan.

“It could get up to £6,000 without anything that will happen in the future and we are all on furlough at the moment so there isn’t a lot of money coming in.”

A spokesperson for BCP Council said: “On June 1, we received notification of an incident involving two dogs at Creekmoor in Poole and we are currently investigating this.

“We would like to remind all dog owners to please keep their dog under control when using our beaches, parks, nature reserves and open spaces.”

At the time of writing, the GoFundMe page had raised a little more than £1,800 in four days.
