NO FURTHER patients who tested positive for coronavirus have died in Hampshire hospitals as NHS figures show there have been fewer deaths recorded in recent weeks.

The latest announcement from NHS England had no additional recorded deaths across the county's hospital settings.

This means the number of patients who have died in Hampshire hospitals with Covid-19 remains at 595.

Over the 28 days from May 13 up to and including June 9, 51 patients with coronavirus have died in the five NHS trusts that cover Hampshire.

This compared to 223 deaths from April 15 up to and including May 12 across the same hospital settings.

As of 5pm on Tuesday, June 9, 130 patients who had contracted coronavirus had died at University Hospital Southampton NHS foundation Trust since the first recorded death on March 15. Portsmouth Hospitals NHS Trust had 229 deaths, while Hampshire Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust had 157.

Solent NHS Trust has had two recorded deaths and Southern Health NHS Foundation Trust has had 17.

The total number of deaths in hospital settings across England now stands at 27,706, with an additional 88 record in NHS England's announcement on Wednesday afternoon.
