A SEX offender died at a mental health hospital, an inquest opening heard.
John Edward Eayrs, was admitted to Ravenswood House, a security unit for adults with serious mental illness, on May 15.
The 66-year-old had been serving a sentence at Winchester Prison for breaching a sexual harm prevention order.
A post mortem report by Home Office pathologist Dr Basil Purdue has not stated a preliminary cause of death.
It says that Mr Eayrs was found with a ligature around his neck on May 25.
Dr Purdue is awaiting on toxicology results and more details will be heard during the full inquest.
Area coroner Jason Pegg has scheduled a pre-inquest hearing for November 26.
This will be at Winchester Coroner's Court, and a date for closure of the case will be set.
