A CONVENIENCE store in Latchford was ram raided last night.

The Co-op on Maybrook Place was targeted by burglars at around 10.45pm yesterday, Thursday.

Cheshire Police have confirmed that the offenders attempted to steal the shop’s cash machine, but were unsuccessful.

Warrington Guardian:

It is thought that they reversed a white van into the front doors in order to gain entry before using an angle grinder on ATM, and fled the scene in a black BMW after being disturbed.

This car was later found abandoned in the Partington area of Manchester, with the van left at the scene.

The shop is boarded up this morning, with shattered glass strewn across the car parking spaces outside.

Warrington Guardian:

Officers remain at the scene this morning, Friday, and are conducting ‘a number of enquiries’.

Detective sergeant Tom Hall said: “The investigation is progressing and a scene remains in place.

“I believe the offenders were disturbed during their attempt to steal the cash machine, meaning they left empty-handed.

“While we follow a number of enquiries, I am appealing to the public to come forward with information to help us find those responsible and ensure they do not strike again.

“If you have CCTV or dashcam footage please do submit it through to us.”

Anyone with any information is urged to contact the force on 101, quoting incident number IML716381, or to call Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111.
