TEENAGER Thomas Novak has been ordered to pay £100 compensation after admitting resisting a railway community officer.

Novak, 19, of Green Stile, Medstead, near Alresford, pleaded guilty to threatening behaviour against railway community officer Turner at Alton on May 8.

Magistrates in Basingstoke said there was a homophobic element to the offence and that it should be classed as a hate crime.

A charge of resisting special constable Daniel Cole on the same day in Alton was withdrawn.

Magistrates ordered Novak to pay £100 compensation. There was no order for costs or victim surcharge because of a lack of means.
