JURY trials return to Winchester Crown Court on Tuesday May 26.

After a two-month break due to coronavirus, a trial will be held with social distancing.

The judge, lawyers, jury and defendant will be in court but the press will have to sit in the public gallery where there will be limited spaces.

The first trial is due to be Errol Robinson, 29, from Sutton in Surrey on allegations of rape and sexual assault.

The jury will be sworn on Tuesday but the trial itself will start on Wednesday.

For weeks the courts have been hearing a number of limited cases and usually 'virtually' via Skype.

The Law Courts in Winchester, built in 1974, are so large that it is felt full trials can be held with suitable social distancing.
