SIR: During this time of lockdown we are lucky to have a lady professional singer living in our close, who gives a one-hour singalong session in a Sunday at 3pm. We all remain in our front gardens.
But a person has objected to this, and complained to Winchester City Council. Having received this complaint the council has warned us under Environmental Protection Act 1990 it will have to put a stop to this in the future. The person who complained does not live in the close. The council acted completely on hearsay. In the letter we received from the council it seemed very reluctant to have to pursue this. And as you can imagine all the neighbours are very upset about this pettiness.
