A FATHER and daughter duo are clinking their teas after they won a VE Day bunting competition.
Anthony and Lily were announced as the winner of the Fareham Borough Council contest, after residents were asked to take part by providing them with a Stay at Home Street Party pack.
The package included a Spotify playlist, a VE Day quiz and the chance to win an afternoon tea by designing their own VE Day themed bunting.
The pair have now had the afternoon tea prize delivered to their home, after they designed the bunting - filled with union jacks - and partied to celebrate 75 years since victory was claimed in Europe.
Fareham Borough Council Executive Leader Councillor Sean Woodward said: “I’m delighted that we had the opportunity to run this competition as a reward for taking part in the VE Day festivities.
“The council received a great deal of entries and it was tough to pick a winner as the overall standard was high, they were all were well-drawn and colourful.
“I would like to offer my congratulations to Lily and her father, their eye-catching design was chosen as the overall winner.”
Thousands of people across Hampshire took to their front lawns and gardens in honour of VE Day.
Although large-scale public events were unable to go ahead, tributes were paid by politicians and members of the royal family, as well as through a host of other events.
