A WINCHESTER man whose body was found on railway tracks died from electrocution.

An inquest has been opened into the death of Simon David Goodwin, a 46-year-old from Badger Farm.

On May 9, South Western Railway (SWR) told the Chronicle that all lines between Winchester and Eastleigh had been blocked.

This was because Mr Goodwin's body had been found near the pedestrian bridge off Mead Road and Whiteshute Lane.

A private ambulance was at the scene as well as other emergency services.

In a post mortem report, consultant pathologist Dr Adnan Al-Badri stated the preliminary cause of death as electrocution with no other factors contributing.

Senior coroner Christopher Wilkinson has adjourned the full inquest to December 2.
