A MAN who caused £70 in damage to a police vehicle has been made to pay almost double that by magistrates.

Jimmy Wayne Brazil, of Hearsay Gardens, Blackwater, damaged a white Ford police car in Basingstoke on April 29.

He pleaded guilty to the charge at the town’s magistrates court on the same day.

Magistrates fined the 27-year-old £60 for the offence and made him pay the £70 in compensation for the damage caused.

TWO people will appear in court next month to face charges of causing unnecessary suffering to a protected animal.

Daniel Klusek, 24, and Emily Sawdon, both of Britten Road, are accused of failing to heed professional veterinary advice to adequately explore and address the cause of Max, the Staffordshire Bull Terrier’s ‘poor bodily condition’.

The pair face separate charges and both cases are set to be heard at Basingstoke magistrates court on June 9.

The case was adjourned due to the situation regarding Covid-19 and the new hearing date is a holding date only.

A 75-YEAR-OLD man was given six penalty points on his driving licence for getting behind the wheel without the correct insurance policy in place.

Brian Horne, of Watson Way, Basingstoke, had driven a blue Nissan Qashqai in Sarum Hill, Basingstoke, on January 9 when he was found to be doing so without the right insurance.

He was proved guilty via single justice procedure and magistrates gave him six penalty points on his licence.

He was also fined £120, made to pay a £32 victim surcharge and £85 in costs.

A BASINGSTOKE driver has been made to pay more than £800 for not having the correct insurance.

Lyndon Dale, of Wilmott Way, had been charged with driving a grey BMW X5 in Basingstoke on November 27, last year, without the current policy of insurance in place.

The 22-year-old was proved guilty via single justice procedure. Magistrates fined him £660 and gave him six penalty points on his driving licence.

He was also made to pay a £66 victim surcharge and £85 in costs, taking his total bill to £811.

A LONDON man clocked at 90mph on the M3 will appear in court next month for sentencing.

Oneil Ahmed had been driving a black Vauxhall on a stretch of the motorway at Dummer on November 7, 2019, when he was found to be doing 20mph over the national speed limit.

The 52-year-old was proved guilty via single justice procedure.

His sentencing was adjourned until June 23 in Aldershot magistrates court so that a disqualification from driving could be considered.

A LYCHPIT man has been made to pay almost £500 after driving 6mph over the speed limit.

Richard Simmonds, of the Topiary, drove a Ford in Hatch Warren Way at 36mph, when the speed limit was 30mph, on November 11, last year.

The 45-year-old pleaded guilty via single justice procedure and was fined £350.

Magistrates also made him pay a £35 victim surcharge and £85 in costs, while he was also given three points on his licence.

A BASINGSTOKE man caught driving at 90mph has been fined £123.

Michael Snell, of Gregory Close, was clocked 20mph over the speed limit at Bullington Cross on November 11, last year.

The 41-year-old pleaded guilty to the offence via single justice procedure. Magistrates fined him £123 and made him pay a £32 victim surcharge and £85 in costs. He was also given three points on his licence.

A DRIVER will be sentenced next month after admitting to speeding on the M27.

Takanaka Muroyiwa, of Cheviot Close, Basingstoke, faced charges of driving a Vauxhall on the M27 eastbound, between Junction 8 and 9, at 64mph in a 50mph zone on September 29, last year.

The 31-year-old pleaded guilty via single justice procedure and will appear at Aldershot magistrates court on June 26 for sentencing.

A DRIVER who did not have the correct insurance has been made to pay almost £200 and given penalty points on his licence.

Darren Austin Leer, of Worting Road, pleaded guilty via single justice procedure to driving a Vauxhall Vectra in Vyne Road on November 27 last year without the correct insurance in place.

The 37-year-old was fined £80 by magistrates, made to pay a £32 victim surcharge and £85 in costs and also given six penalty points on his licence.
