FOR the second day in a row, no new coronavirus deaths have been reported at the Trust that runs Andover, Basingstoke and Winchester hospitals.

Daily NHS figures released today (Sunday) show the number of patients in hospitals across the country who died after testing positive for coronavirus in the 24 hours between 5pm on Friday and 5pm yesterday.

The number of deaths across England has increased by 327, but none were recorded by Hampshire Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust (HHFT).

It is the second day in a row no deaths have been recorded in the area.

However, the NHS also notes that figures for recent days could be updated as more deaths are confirmed as testing positive for Covid-19, and more post-mortem tests are processed.

It is also worth noting that because of the way deaths are reported in the NHS, the figures tend to me much lower on Sundays and Mondays.

Elsewhere in the county a further two people have died after testing positive for coronavirus.

Both were reported at Portsmouth Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust, where 194 people have now died.

At University Hospital Southampton NHS Foundation trust, 146 people have died who tested positive for the virus, but no new deaths have been reported since Friday.

Nationally, 327 more people died across England, plus 14 in Wales, 12 in Scotland and five in Northern Ireland.
