A MAN has been fined after harassing a woman and displaying threatening, insulting or abusive behaviour at Basingstoke railway station.

Jimmy Brazil, of Hearsay Gardens, admitted to directing threatening, abusive or insulting words or behaviour towards two women at the railway station on April 21.

He faced an additional charge of causing harassment, alarm or distress to one of those women during the same incident.

The 27-year-old pleaded guilty to the charges at Basingstoke magistrates court and was fined £160 in total.

He was also made to pay £100 in compensation, split between the two victims.

 

A TADLEY woman has pleaded guilty to using violence to enter a property and assaulting an emergency worker.

Sophie Mitchell, of Priors Road, faced charges of using violence to enter the same Priors Road premises knowing that someone inside was opposed to said entry.

The incident took place on April 20, when she was also accused of assaulting a police community support worker.

The 33-year-old admitted the first change and indicated a plea of guilty to the second at Basingstoke magistrates court.

She was remanded on bail until May 13 when the case will continue at the same court. Until then she has been prevented from entering Priors Road.

 

A BASINGSTOKE driver has been found guilty of driving without the correct licence or insurance and ‘without reasonable consideration’ for other road users.

Tony Davis, of James Road, was accused of committing the offences while driving a Ford Transit in Kingsclere Road on November 29, last year.

The 30-year-old was proved guilty via single justice procedure.

His case has been adjourned until June 18 at Aldershot magistrates court for sentencing.

 

A SOUTHAMPTON man who breached a restraining order by attending a Basingstoke address has been remanded in custody.

Graeme Farr, of Alma Road, allegedly attended an Ilsley Road address on April 4 and attempted to talk to a woman there when he had been prohibited from doing so under a restraining order imposed on February 5.

He is also said to have sent a ‘threatening’ Facebook message to a man in a separate incident on November 12, last year.

The 37-year-old’s charges were heard at Basingstoke magistrates court last week and he was remanded on bail until Thursday when his case was to be heard at the same court via video link.

 

A READING driver caught behind the wheel in Basingstoke while double the legal drink drive limit will return to court later this year.

Szymon Piotr Jankowiak, of Drewett Close, faces a charge of drink driving after being stopped in Reading Road in a Porsche on April 2.

He was allegedly found to have 69 micrograms of alcohol in 100 millilitres of breath, where the legal limit is 35.

The 28-year-old was remanded on unconditional bail until June 2 after the case was adjourned due to the situation regarding Covid-19.

The new date is a holding date and the defendant is not necessarily required to attend.

 

TWO cases involving Basingstoke mothers accused of failing to ensure their children attended school regularly have been adjourned.

Both mothers, who cannot be named for legal reasons, are accused of failing to ensure their daughters attended school regularly over a period of almost one year.

One of the mothers is accused of failing to ensure her 15-year-old daughter attended a Basingstoke school regularly between October 29, 2018 and October 18, 2019.

The other is accused of failing to ensure her 14-year-old daughter attended a Basingstoke school regularly between October 1, 2018 and September 27, 2019.

The cases have been adjourned due to the situation regarding Covid-19 and are due to be heard at Basingstoke magistrates court on June 2.
