AN EASTLEIGH man died after being hit by a train near Winchester.
Raghotham Kumar Gajula, 36, was pronounced dead at the scene after jumping off the platform at Shawford Station on March 31.
Reading a report to Winchester Coroner's Court, area coroner Jason Pegg said: "The driver was on the way to London Waterloo when passing through Shawford.
"He saw the male who looked like he was about to jump, and unfortunately he did. The driver attempted to put on the emergency brake but it was too late."
A post mortem report by pathologist Dr Belvinda Shoker states the preliminary cause of death as multiple injuries.
The full inquest into the death of Mr Gajula, who lived in Cable Street, will be held on October 21.
