PEOPLE may be flouting the rules in other places but in Winchester there was near-strict adherence to social distancing.
The Cathedral Close had just a couple of people siting on the benches, the High Street was almost empty and on Oram's Arbour just one man was playing cricket with his children.
But there was something to lift the spirits. Someone had baked a blueberry, lemon and almond cake and cut it into pieces and left it on plates outside Brides of Winchester on the High Street.
There was a note: "From Me to You! Help yourself to one of these bakes. I hope it brings a smile to your day. Be Kind! Be Safe!"
