WINCHESTER College has been helping fight the health crisis by making and donating personal protection equipment (PPE).
Staff in the Design and Technology Department have created a prototype face shield, which was welcomed by an NHS colleague this week.
Technician Adrian Ahmed and Callum Barnes, head of department, will produce more than 100 of them using a laser cutter and will be donating a further 1,000 gloves and 23 pairs of safety spectacles.
The college has also delivered 52 pairs of safety spectacles and other equipment to Wykeham Ward at Winchester Hospital.
A spokesperson said: "A small contribution towards the mammoth efforts of our local NHS teams. Our Science School has also donated PPE to Southampton General Hospital, and to the Hampshire Ambulance Service.
"This amounted to four boxes containing: 1,500 gloves, 28 pairs of safety spectacles and over 100 disposable aprons."
