A TOTAL of more than 150 coronavirus patients have died in Hampshire, figures released today have revealed.

Figures released by the NHS have revealed that the total number of deaths in Hampshire have risen from 148 to 156 in 24 hours - a total of eight more deaths.

The figures cover the University Hospital Southampton NHS Foundation Trust (UHS), Hampshire Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust and Portsmouth Hospitals NHS Trust.

At the UHS, a total of 35 people who tested positive for COVID-19 have died, a rise of five in the last 24 hours.

The latest deaths at the hospital were recorded on April 5, where two patients passed away.

Portsmouth Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust, which runs the Queen Alexandra Hospital Cosham, has now had 80 deaths - a rise of three from 77 recorded in the last 24 hours.

A total of 41 deaths have been recorded at Hampshire Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust, which handles Royal Hampshire County Hospital in Winchester, Andover War Memorial Hospital, Basingstoke and North Hampshire Hospital and Alton Community Hospital.

There has been no rise in the number of deaths at Hampshire Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust.

Across the UK, 6,483 people have died after testing positive for coronavirus.
