A SPECIAL event exploring Offa's and Wat's Dyke will take place this weekend via a virtual workshop.

The event, which will take place on Saturday, April 4 has been organised by Professor Howard Williams, Professor of Archaeology at the University of Chester, along with Pauline Clarke for the Offa's Dyke Collaboratory, in liaison with Andy Heaton from the Trefonen Rural Protection Group (TRPG).

Special Offa: Communities and Offa's Dyke starts at 9.30am, with an introduction by Professor Williams, and concludes at 6pm.

"We were determined to still have an exciting virtual event, to celebrate these early medieval earthworks – despite the current situation," said Professor Williams.

"The day will offer a mix of video presentations, blog-posts and social media posts presenting new work and perspectives on Offa's Dyke and Wat's Dyke.

"We look forward to welcoming all interested parties along."

The workshop will include presentations via Facebook and Twitter, as well as YouTube.
