A SOUTHAMPTON bus company has re-introduced its early morning service to help NHS key workers during the coronavirus outbreak.

Bluestar has adjusted its temporary timetable, to accommodate key workers travelling to-and-from Southampton General Hospital.

The local bus operator recently reduced its services across the city, in the light of the current coronavirus situation.

It also requested that key workers get in contact if the new timetable created travel issues.

Now it is introducing a new journey for its Bluestar 17 route, at 6.20am, from Weston to Adanac Park.

This journey serves Southampton General Hospital.

The company are also adjusting the Bluestar 9 service - so the current 7.10am journey from Fawley will now start at 7.05am from Calshot Beach to enable a key worker connection.

Bluestar managing director, Andrew Wickham said: “We understand the need for key workers to travel to-and-from work in order to provide vital public services.

"With that in mind, we asked anyone who falls within this category who is experiencing difficulties in travelling, to contact us via the Bluestar website.

"We promised we would do all we could to assist.

"The feedback we have received has given us the opportunity to adjust our temporary timetable."
