AN ELDERLY woman woke to find two men in her bedroom in the early hours of this morning who stole a Military Cross medal and jewellery.

The burglars broke into an address in Stockbridge at about 2.30am today (March 23) and entered the victim’s bedroom.

The woman woke to find the pair in her room with their faces covered. They stole money from her purse, a number of items of jewellery and a Military Cross medal.

The two men then left the address.

The medal, which was awarded for acts of exemplary gallantry during active operations, was in a presentation case that was signed by the king.

Officers investigating are keen to speak with anyone who may be able to assist their enquiries.

A police spokesperson said: “Perhaps you saw two men acting suspiciously in the area recently, or vehicles which looked out of place?

“Maybe you have been offered or have seen items of jewellery and a Military Cross medal for sale?”
