A WINCHESTER city centre car park is set to close for six months for flood defence work.
The Durngate which has around 80 spaces will shut on April 6 for the works.
The works have been long in the planning dating back to the 2014 floods which nearly inundated the city centre.
It is the latest of a series of measures in the area. A flood wall has been built on Water Lane and the area around the River Park Leisure Centre and St Bede primary school are now protected by temporary flood barriers at the end of Park Avenue. The school was submerged in 2000 and relocated to Bereweeke Road whilst it was rebuilt.
The city council has been asked for more information about the new phase but has not replied.
