Lachenalias is a genus of bulbous perennials in the family Asparagaceae, subfamily Scilloideae, which are usually found in Namibia and South Africa.

JOIN senior horticulturist Alex New at Sir Harold Hillier Gardens this Saturday in search of endangered plants.

Together, you will look at species that this garden helps to protect through their conservation programme.

You'll learn about the places they come from, the reasons they're in trouble and what can be done to save them.

The tour will last approximately one-and-a-half hours finishing with a slice of cake and hot drink.

LOCAL good neighbours charity Communicare in Southampton are holding another popular vintage and craft fair at Highfield Church Centre on Saturday.

The last event was a great success and there will be a wide variety of stalls selling crafts, jewellery, homemade and vintage goods – a great opportunity to buy Mother's Day and Easter gifts.

There will be live music, food, a raffle, and plenty of homemade cakes.

There is a small car park suitable for drop off and on street free parking in the surrounding area.

Free entry for customers.

Proceeds from the day will go towards helping the charity alleviate loneliness and isolation in the city of Southampton.

THE Mad March Hare Bike Ride is back on Sunday.

From 7.30am at Holden Farm, the event is a brilliant chance to get out your bike and enjoy the stunning countryside of the the South Downs.

There is a choice of two routes, a long route of 37 miles and a medium route of 27 miles.

The route covers tracks, trails, and roads. E bikes are very welcome.
