A WINCHESTER man has been arrested following a car crash which killed an 18-year-old man from Eastleigh.

Police were called to a collision yesterday evening (Sunday) on Allbrook Way, involving a blue Ford Fiesta and a blue Subaru Impreza.

Emergency services attended but the driver of the fiesta, an 18-year-old man from Eastleigh was pronounced dead at the scene.

A 35-year-old woman from London was also taken to hospital after "suffering serious injuries" during the incident which took place at around 9.46pm last night.

Now a Winchester man has been arrested on suspicion of causing death by driving without due care or consideration while over the specified limit of a controlled drug and witnesses of the incident are being urged to come forward.

Officers say the 35-year-old was driving while "over the specified limit" of a controlled drug.

A Hampshire Police spokesperson said: "We are appealing for witnesses after a man sadly died following a collision in Eastleigh involving two vehicles last night (March 1).

"Emergency services attended, but the driver of the Fiesta, an 18-year-old from Eastleigh, was sadly pronounced dead at the scene.

"A 34-year-old man from Winchester has been arrested on suspicion of causing death by driving without due care or consideration while over specified limit of a controlled drug.

"Officers are investigating the exact circumstances of the collision and are keen to speak with any witnesses.
