KEEN quizzers and novices enjoyed an evening of brainteasers in aid of good causes across the district.

Eggheads Kevin Ashman was the quizmaster for the eleventh Mayor of Winchester annual charity event on February 15.

The popular quiz attracted over 120 of the keenest players from across the south coast to the Guildhall to take part and enjoy a supper.

Throughout the evening 15 teams battled it out to win the coveted trophy plus the donation of a substantial sum to charity.

This year’s winners were the visiting Chichester team of Joe Docherty, Ian Sewell, David and Romayne Brown, Graeme Street and Gerard Murphy, who were last year’s runners up.

The money raised from the event will go to the mayor’s charities, which this year Cllr Eleanor Bell chose The Firefighters’ Charity, Winchester First Responders, The Winchester Hospice, and the Children’s Society.
