FOR the third week Winchester parkrun has been cancelled because of the wet weather.
The Saturday run was called off previously due to Storm Dennis but the continued rainfall and weather warnings have forced organisers to take the decision.
North Walls Rec, also aptly-named as River Park, is currently saturated, leaving footpaths flooded and impassable.
Flood barriers have been deployed at the Park Avenue entrance next to the School of Art.
One of the organisers David Howells said: “We have reluctantly decided to cancel this Saturday’s Winchester parkrun.
“The rainfall over the last few days - together with the weather warnings issued for Friday to Saturday (28/02- 29/02) - means that even our alternative ‘bad weather’ course around River Park would not be safe.
“The city council have already put in a temporary footpath closure.”
