CHEERING could be heard throughout the city centre as Winchester Pancake Race returned for its second year.
Crowds gathered in the Cathedral Close to watch teams go head to head with frying pan in-hand.
In the style of a relay race, the first runner would flip the pancake, run to the middle and flip again, dash to the end and pass the pan.
Teams included local police officers, councillors and the boy choristers. There was even a rival race between Tesco and Sainsbury's staff.
The event was organised by Winchester Rotary in partnership with the cathedral and all proceeds will be shared between the two.
