RALPH Hasenhuttl rued the failure not to award Saints a penalty after his side’s 4-0 defeat at Liverpool – following an outstanding first-half performance.
Saints should have had a spot-kick at the start of the second, when Danny Ings was tripped by Fabinho with the match still goalless.
But it was not checked by VAR and Liverpool responded immediately with a goal for Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain.
Hasenhuttl said: “I don’t see a reason why he should go down because he’s alone in front of the goalkeeper.
“But he hits him twice. If the first is not a foul, then the second is a clear foul.
"I want to see this game when we go 1-0 up and when we have the penalty decision, which for me was the crucial moment in this game.
“But I don’t want to say too much about it because my team played too well. It was fantastic to watch, I enjoyed every minute from my team.”
