VILLAGERS campaigning against plans to build an incinerator close to Barton Stacey have organised a unique event to raise awareness.

American company Wheelabrator is vying to construct a waste to energy facility at the Raymond Brown site on the A303, and now residents have arranged a LOVE run on Sunday February 9.

The idea of the run is that a group of runners start at both Barton Stacey and Longparish – the parishes most affected by the incinerator proposals – and high five as they pass each other.

The route will be cross county, just over six miles, on footpaths and quiet roads, with good viewpoints of the incinerator.

Entry is free but runners are asked to make a donation to Keep Test Valley Beautiful group – which is protesting again the plans.

Registration from 9am and race starting at 10am, with those taking part able to start at either end.

Children of eight and over are welcome provided they are accompanied by an adult. Well-behaved dogs must be kept on a lead.

Marshals, cake makers and cheering crowds are also needed.
