SOUTHAMPTON football fans are being offered a rare chance to be photographed with the biggest prize in sport.

The Emirates FA Cup trophy will be on show at the the Nathan's Famous restaurant in Mayfield Road, Southampton, tomorrow.

In a competition launched by Deliveroo, residents were asked to say which restaurant in the city should host the cup.

Nathan's Famous was named the winner and will be one of only five eateries in the UK to display the trophy during its five-day tour of the country.

Daily Echo:

Locals who want to catch a glimpse of the cup can visit the restaurant between noon and 2pm and pose.

Its visit to the city will revive memories of the day Saints won the 1976 FA Cup Final, beating Manchester United 1-0 at Wembley Stadium.

More than 250,000 people turned out to watch Saints make a triumphant tour of the city in an open-topped double-decker bus.

Emily Kraftman, of Deliveroo said: "We were thrilled to see the overwhelming number of customers in Southampton who voted to have their favourite restaurant host the FA Cup trophy."

Freddie Griffith-Jones, senior partnerships manager at the FA added: "It's not everyday you get the chance to see the Emirates FA Cup trophy - especially in your local restaurant.

Daily Echo:

"We are hugely excited to partner with Deliveroo and to share this opportunity with fans around the country.”
