THE supporter of a Sutton Scotney-based hospice has won a brand new car.

Naomi House & Jacksplace, the region’s hospices for children and young adults, run a weekly lottery to bolster fundraising efforts and give supporters a chance to win cash prizes, but at Christmas the draw was a little different thanks to Beal’s Estate Agents and Richmond Motor Group, who donated a brand new MG MG3 car as the star prize.

And after 26,042 entries the winner, Shelia Russell, from Southampton, was announced alongside the Royal Navy’s newest ship, the aircraft carrier HMS Prince of Wales.

Paul Morgan, director of fundraising and communications at Naomi House & Jacksplace, said: “This has been an extraordinary lottery draw and the inclusion of a new car thanks to Beal’s and Richmond Motor Group has really increased the number of players we have seen. Thanks to our friends in the Royal Navy, at HMNB and especially on HMS Prince of Wales, we have been able to make an already special lottery draw even more incredible. My thanks go to them all, and of course to our lottery players as well. As I’ve always said Naomi House & Jacksplace is a community resource, supporting children from communities across seven counties and underpinned by organisations as diverse as the Royal Navy, car dealerships, estate agents and many more.”
