RALPH Hasenhuttl refused to criticise Jose Mourinho after the Tottenham boss referred to the Saints goalkeeping coach as ‘an idiot’.

Mourinho was booked in the 77th minute after wandering into the Saints technical area, where he appeared to try to read notes being written by Andrew Sparkes.

Asked about his booking afterwards, Mourinho said: "I think the yellow card is fair because I was rude, but I was rude to an idiot.

"And for some reason, I was rude, but I was and because I was I deserve the yellow card."

But Hasenhuttl said he was unaware of what had gone on, preferring to focus on an outstanding performance from his team.

The Saints boss said: “I was so concentrated on my team I don’t know what happened behind me.

“I have a very high opinion about this manager he has done so much for football in his management career against this team today.

"It’s not easy to play against such a strong side and we should more talk about my team today.”

Frustrated by what he considered time-wasting tactics, Mourinho added: "The ball boys were well coached in the delaying of the game."

Hasenhuttl added: "You need a little luck and in the end it was a deserved win."
