STAFF at a popular Andover music venue will receive equality training after a transgender artist pulled out of a gig after she was asked to use the disabled bathroom.

Amelia, the guitarist for Bristol-based band Brasher, left the Rockhouse on Friday night after she was asked not to use the female facilities.

The managing director of the London Street venue said staff would now be trained to ensure this situation does not happen again.

They said no offence was meant and it was the first time this situation had arose at their venue.

Speaking to the Advertiser, the spokesman said: "I have investigated the matter of a complaint and have found comments were made which we appreciate was uncomfortable, but was never meant as a personal attack by the member of staff.

"It is the first time the company has had a situation like this and appreciate it could of been handled better.

He continued: "I have now put actions in place to ensure this does not happen again and further training will be had by all staff and volunteers."
