AN Alresford man has been convicted of a second attack on a female whilst on bail for another assault.

Tom Higgs, 22, of Ladycroft, admitted assaulting a teenager in Alton on November 6 and criminal damage to a front door.

Higgs received a second suspended sentence, of 18 weeks suspended for 24 months.

Magistrates said it was made more serious as it was done whilst he was on bail for a similar offence.

They also ordered Higgs attend a Building Better Relationships course for 26 days and do 100 hours unpaid work over the next 12 months.

Higgs was told to pay a £120 victim surcharge. There was no order for compensation because of limited means, including financial penalties from the other attack.

A restraining order bans him from going to an address in Alton.

The victim, who is under 18 cannot be named for legal reasons.
