BURGERS will start taking charge of Friday nights at a Southampton cafe next month.

Southampton-based company Stacked Burgers are set to sell their street food burgers at The Docks Coffee House, on Oxford Street, from early December onwards.

They sell a variety of meat burgers, and offer a range of vegan and gluten-free options to customers.

They started trading by using locally-sourced beef on Hampshire Farmers Markets before moving to London for three years.

Since running a trade on London's Brick Lane and serving burgers at private events and festivals - including Dogstival in the New Forest - they have decided to permanently move to the coastal city of Southampton and will open the cafe one night a week.

They have also set up camp at multiple LGBTQ events, including Weymouth Pride and Croydon Pride, which inspired their popular unicorn burger, a rainbow bagel double cheeseburger filled with beef, onion jam, and a sprinkle of glitter.

The Docks Coffee House is usually shut on Friday evenings, and the burger business will be opening inside their premises.

Not just burgers will be sold at the cafe but craft beers and cocktails will also be on offer to customers.

Owner Jessica Stewart, 30, said she decided to start the company due to her "obsession with food".

She said: "I was living in London and was totally obsessed with food. There were endless markets in London and I wanted to create an amazing food business, with food that tastes as amazing as it looks. I wanted the burgers to be instagrammable as that's our niche. Then my husband got a job here and we moved - now I'm super excited to be opening in Southampton as it's not the same environment to London. There is a gap for street food here."

Jessica, who works with autistic children on weekdays, wants to eventually make Stacked Burgers her full-time job.

She added: "I chose a street that I thought the burgers would do well on, so it drew me to Oxford Street. If all goes well then we're looking to open on Saturday nights, as well as Friday nights, in the New Year.

"In future, I want to do this full-time as I'm looking to grow the business. So we will be opening our business within a business."

Stacked Burgers will open at 6.30pm on Friday December 13, with a complimentary glass of prosecco for each guest.
