Thousands of fundraisers plunged into the spirit of things, taking part in crazy stunts and wacky capers.
More than £11 million was raised on November 26, 1999, with more than £600,000 coming from Hampshire. A total of more than £16 million was raised that year. These pictures show local fundraisers doing their bit.
