A GROUP of eight Winchester children made 600 cakes for a charity bake sale – and sold them all in a single day.
The primary school pupils, with the youngest being four, raised £361 on Saturday November 9 as they braved the cold and damp weather.
Dressed in Pudsey costumes, they set up two tables in St Maurice's Covert selling the cakes at 50p each. Hundreds of visitors later, including the Mayor of Winchester Cllr Eleanor Bell, the tables were empty.
Sue Lovett, who runs a cooking class with the children and helped bake the cakes, said: "Isn't it just amazing. They wouldn't give up until all the cakes were gone.
"The attention they got was fantastic, and I'm not surprised so many people stopped, they were shouting very loudly!"
Sue runs 'Let's Get Cooking' with the children every week. She used to be a childminder for the group, but due to personal circumstances had to give it up.
The cooking club is her way of staying in touch.
