WORK has been carried out after an underground sewer pipe collapsed.
Southern Water have undertaken remedial works to the sewers on The Broadway in Winchester, after they were called to the site on October 28.
Around a dozen workman have been at work with a large digger lifting a large hole outside the Guildhall.
A powerful pump has kept the workings dry as the dig is close to one of the city’s underground rivers.
Part of the road was fenced off and the taxi rank has been temporarily relocated to the other side of The Broadway.
Southern Water spokesperson Lewis Brown said: “We worked quickly and safely to repair a damaged section of sewer at The Broadway in Winchester - these works have now been completed.
“Traffic management was required to carry out these emergency works and we thank everyone for their patience.”
They have also apologised for any inconvenience caused.
